Centre’s Statistics minor strengthens students’ expertise in quantitative methods, complementing their major fields of study and enhancing their ability to approach problems with data-driven insights. By exploring critical topics such as probability, statistical inference, and data visualization, students with this minor gain a solid foundation in the tools and techniques necessary for effective research and decision-making. The study of Statistics also prepares students to tackle complex challenges across various disciplines, equipping them with the essential skills to analyze data, draw conclusions, and communicate findings. Curriculum

The Statistics minor at ¹û¶³´«Ã½ offers a flexible curriculum, drawing from diverse mathematics and data science courses to provide a strong foundation in quantitative methods. Applicable across fields like anthropology, economics, psychology, and biology, this minor enhances students' understanding of statistics in both the humanities and sciences. Promoting interdisciplinary study, the program aligns with the liberal arts mission, equipping students with valuable skills for analyzing data and supporting research across various disciplines. 

The Statistics minor requires completion of seven courses (six required and one elective, for a total of 21-22 credit hours).  

Experiential Learning

Students engage in hands-on learning experiences and reflection to develop skills and increase knowledge retention.

Students pursuing a Statistics minor look forward to engaging in collaborative research with faculty through data collection, data analysis, and sports analytics for teams on campus. Students also have opportunities to present their work at undergraduate conferences.
